An Old Corfu Olive Tree
One of the delights of Corfu, and also one of the reasons it is such a green island, is the abundance of olive trees - it is said there are more than 3 million.
I love the twisted thickened trunks and main branches and in certain lights the sunlight makes lovely patterns not shown well here us the sun was very high as we headed to Mitsos taverna in Nissaki for lunch.
I suspect this tree is hundreds of years old and I remember photographing it on our early visits to Corfu in the pre digital era. ( The extra is another view of the same tree.)
