Lilioceris lilii

Or red lily beetle in English. I found this hungry little chap on the lilies in my mum's garden with the clear evidence of his latest meal behind him. I'm reluctant to kill such a pleasing blip subject but I guess I'll be back out in the morning to take care of him and his brethren - and to check for any larvae which apparently have the charming habit of hiding in a pile of their own excrement!
