Spot the Crab...!

Following the shock of this morning's "Brexit" result in the EU referendum, we were pleased to have our minds taken off the news by welcoming our American friends to our house at mid-day; they're staying here for 2 nights before travelling to York for some more exploring.

After lunch we took them down to St Mary's Island so that the two young lads could do some rock-pooling. They had a great time and found lots of limpets as well as cockles and crabs. We were impressed at how well the little crabs were camouflaged amongst the seaweed and sand. If it were a Thursday I'd have entered this blip in the "Abstract Thursday" challenge!

A heavy rainstorm suddenly descended, so we hurried along the causeway and into the lighthouse where we climbed the staircase to the top. Needless to say the youngsters were less breathless than the rest of us when we reached the top! The extra is a shot looking up the staircase.
