A night to remember
Despite all our misgivings and grumpiness, I don't think the opening night of the Olympics could have been more fun. We drank wedding champagne with Marc and Mo, listening to the sounds of parties in just about every flat, and then rushed up to the eight floor with most of the other residents to watch the fireworks. The atmosphere and the adrenaline of the night was incredible. It's very unlike us to be able to stay up till 4am drinking, but we did. From our lovely friends, to the strangers partying in other flats, to the people gathering in the streets, everyone was happy. I can't remember ever feeling anything like this in London before - the sense of community and shared excitement. I actually found myself forgetting the annoyances and feeling privileged to live in the Olympic borough.
