Michelin factory museum
We had a spare day in Clermont Ferrand whilst we waited for sunnier weather to climb the volcano Puy de Dome. This is an incredibly interesting museum which proudly explains the philanthropic thinking behind Michelin especially in the early days. In the early 20th century motorists wrote to the company to find out the best route to a place in France and would receive their own route in return. This inevitably led to the production of the Michelin guides and clearer road signs.
