Common

Wandered over to Greenham Common on between the thunder storms! It is a great place to re-gain perspectve.

Not very long ago, it was the weapons base for the largest super-power in the world, and could have been the base for World War Three. Thankfully for us all, it did not come to that, and the land is now common land once again. There are still signs of its former use, some more obvious than others.

But it reminds me that no human power is permanent, all will fall eventually. Where there was once Europe's longest runway, nature has now taken hold. Many of the elements of the base which still remain have to be protected in order that they too will not be taken over by nature.

We've weathered storms before, and we will weather this one, too.
