Winter trees and power lines

I managed a 45 minute walk today. I'm not limping and I tried walking on the river bank too.

Our unusually warm weather will change and with it not too cold outside I spent time late morning cleaning up with vege garden and a few other bits and pieces in the front.

I found a green caterpillar in a patch of parsley I recognised from a white butterfly (not that I'm seeing the butterflies). That's how warm it is. Things that would normally die back because of the cold are still around. My chives are still bravely shouldering on too when normally they'd have died back until warmer months. I picked cos lettuce leaves, rocket and spinach for my lunchtime salad.

I was accompanied by the little pope. He dug holes at random, popped up as I cut back herbs, appeared in the middle of ferns I was trimming off the dead fronds, and viewed the new spinach seedlings as new toys. They're now protected though I'm not sure if bamboo skewers will stand up to youthful exuberance.

Meanwhile the slow cooker has ticked away with a rolled shoulder of pork inside. Later it will disappear along with roast veges to friends who have enough else to deal with.

Rugby. Maybe, if so with friends. I enjoy the humour (and maybe the rugby just a little ;-)
