A Peep Thru the Pinhole

Colourful Iceland

Much of the scenery might as well be on the surface of the moon, but there are many vibrant splashes of colour in this rocky, lava-filled volcanic country. This scene is immediately adjacent to a steaming, bubbling geothermic site, much reminiscent of my fairly recent visit to Rotorua (NZ), including the pungent odour of sulphur which permeates the atmosphere.
Iceland is a sparsely-populated country with a total of some 332,000 inhabitants, most of whom live in and around the capital, Rejkjavik.
