Just trying to survive

Not Out of the Woods Just Yet

We went to see Cosmo again today. Only took Tuxie because on Friday Nova wasn't handling the room with the kennels well (he has a deep-rooted phobia of kennels, not unusual for rescue animals).

When we walked into the room, Cosmo was holding his head up well and his eyes were mostly open. Those beautiful blues were alert and you could see that he wasn't in as much pain. He seemed pretty comfortable, all things considered.

We're all trying not to get our hopes too high, because despite his improvement, it's still too soon to call it. It's not uncommon for a brief comeback, followed by a sudden death or fatal relapse. (I've had many animals throughout my life, I've seen it happen.)

The vet staff said he'd been walking around before we got there and wasn't having much trouble moving around. He gobbled up a can of food and demanded more, which surprised them and they quickly gave him another can. He devoured half of that can, snacked on some dry food, and was drinking water well.

Everyone is amazed by how quickly he perked up after snuggling with Tuxie on Friday. He hadn't improved much at during his first night. But after snuggling with Tuxie, he perked up and has been making good progress.

He also was able to urinate without a catheter and there was no visible signs of blood in it. Tuxie didn't want to leave him again, but Cosmo started kicking him really hard to get out of his kennel because he needed to pee and Tuxie was in his way. Tuxie was like, "Fine, fine, I'm leaving!" And let us remove him easily after that.

Cosmo was very snuggly. Let us take molds of his front paws. Was all purrs.

Despite how promising it looks, we're not even close to out of the woods yet. But we may've found the trail leading out. Slow and steady is the name of the game now.

The vet isn't open on Sunday, but they'll call us with an update. If he starts to worsen, they'll call us to come in and bring Tuxie to see him.

Thank you all so much for your prayers and support. I truly believe your love and prayers are helping bring him back to us. Please don't stop praying for him yet. He still has a ways to come before he's well.

Your love and support has helped me stay strong through all of this.

I truly believe that Blip is a magical place on the internet, where people care about other people, and love and support and kindness is the golden standard.

I still have comments to respond to, but I'm exhausted and B and I are gonna play video games to unwind. I'll try to respond to the rest of the comments from yesterday this weekend.

I hope you all are doing well. Thank you all so much. Take care and be careful.

I love you all so very much.
