Bad Hair Day

Alison and I had booked to go walking with Alpacas today at Spring Farm Alpacas in Fletchling.  Vicki from the farm phoned me this morning to say that she'd checked the weather forecast and although there were some showers forecast, we should be fine.

When we arrived it was really hot and sunny, so we taken to meet the Alpacas.  We were told not to attempt to stroke them, or get too close as they don't like it, but that once we were with our walking partners Oberon and Charlie Brown, we would be able to stroke them as they're fine when they're on their harnesses.  Vicki said not to stroke them over their heads though, just to hold the harness close and stroke them on their necks.

I took lots of photos and Milly, the young girl who was taking us on the walk said she'd have my camera and take photos of us during the walk - there's a few in my extras.

Unfortunately we only made it to the first field and the weather changed dramatically - it got very dark and started thundering and raining.  We were fine at first under the shelter of the trees but the rain turned into very heavy hailstone.  Charlie Brown sat down and refused to move and Oberon wasn't happy, we were all completely soaked, right through to our pants and made a decision to give up and head back the farm.   Vicki refunded us our money and said we're welcome to go back another time, and she kindly gave us towels to sit on in the car as we were so wet!

Unfortunately, even though I had my rucksack with me and put my camera away when it first started to rain, the hail was so heavy that it went through my bag and my camera got wet and will no longer work :(   It even had water in the battery compartment and my memory card was wet, so I left it drying out in the sun when we got home, but it's broken.  Not great timing as we go on holiday in less than two weeks, so I'll have to get a new one!

This afternoon I went to Chris' for a hair cut - it was starting to get very messy and he's cut the back and sides so it looks much tidier, but left the top longer so I can start growing it into a style.

Alan's been busy working on the summer house and has now fitted the guttering.  He's got everything he needs to start fitting the electrics and has bought the cladding for the inside.  So tonight we had a nice relaxing evening at home  - Prosecco in the 'Palace' and an Indian takeaway.

Hope you're all having a good weekend - apologies for the lack of comments, Alison goes home this morning, so  I'll try and catch up later.
