Calm Seas

We drove round the fjord to Perast. It stands in the middle two of two bays of the inner Boka with a vantage point down the Verige Channel, it was once a major strategic naval base. Now it is quite and we enjoyed a wander along passed the fishing boats, water ferries and larger yachts. Just off the town there are two small islands: one is called St. George island, and the other called Our Lady of the Rock, and each has a picturesque chapel. Our Lady of the Rock is the only artificially built island in the Adriatic, with an area of 3,030 m² - it was built upon a rock (?krpjel) after two Venetian sailors from Perast found a picture of the Virgin Mary on it in 1452.
