Woven gold...
Once the early morning fog had lifted it was a hot and humid day, which made surveying trees in a hilly landscape quite exhausting. We started just before ten and finally finished at 7.45pm. The day didn't run entirely smoothly - I kept dropping the very thin shiny aluminium tree tags, which proved almost impossible to find in the long grass and at the end of the afternoon Alex lost the hammer. We searched for about twenty minutes on our hands and knees before we found it behind a thistle!
The pace of the work didn't allow much time for photography (except for record images of every tree), but I couldn't resist this beautifully woven spiders web, gilded by a combination of dust and the low evening light.
