The bedroom tour

Ton (my brother) and I visited castle De Haar again. This must've been my 7th or 8th visit now? I've blipped it before at an evening tour, a day tour, but we were never allowed photos inside. There's a chalet annexed to the castle, which is todays holiday home of the family. It's too expensive to hold on the the caslte itself for use of a mere couple of weeks a year. The chalet was being refurnished and modernized inside last year. At the time of restauration that was the only moment of past and future that people were allowed inside for a peek, which we did of course.

This summer they're doing a special bedroom tour. And for once, maybe it's a tryout, photos inside are allowed. My chance! This is my very favourite spot of the castle, the very luxurious bathroom of the one who was barones at the time of the (re)building of the castle. The castle was rebuilt from ruins at the end of the 19th / early 20th century, with as much luxury as possible, but with the grandeur of a medieval castle. The barones couldn't care less for medieval times, she just wanted a bright and comfortable bathroom and bedroom. Her bedroom can be seen in the extra photo.
