Poppy Wave at Lincoln Castle

The  Poppy Wave originated as  an installation of nearly 900,000 ceramic poppies around the Tower of London in 1914, climaxing on November 11th, as a remembrance of that number of British Commonwealth fighters who gave their lives in the First World War. Here are two informative videos which present that experience: this one and a time lapse from dawn to dusk.  Much smaller installations are being mounted around Britain;  we saw the one at Lincoln Castle--yesterday from below, and today as we walked around the castle wall.

The blips show parts of the wall (it is 1/3 mile around, we were told--it seemed longer).  The large brick building, which we visited, in the main image was a prison until the 1870s.  In the distance is Lincoln Cathedral, on the other side of the city center.

In the late afternoon we took a train  back to London.  I posted this fairly late the next day.
