Sun down (behind the clouds)

It's two years since the Minx and I brought the kids here to watch the sun go down on the longest day of the year. Last year the event seemed to get overshadowed by Fathers' Day but that didn't stop Dan and Abi citing it as a tradition, this year.

With the Minx off to Glastonbury, tomorrow, she and the miniMinx weren't in attendance, this year; it was just me, Dan and Abi. We grabbed some dinner in The Royal at Heysham - not bad 7/10 - and then went down to the beach. It was chilly and we were a bit early, so we sat in the car and read our books until about twenty minutes before sun down.

At that point, we were able to watch the sun go down behind the clouds but we didn't see it again. Thus, we had a notional moment at technical sundown before Dan and Abi resumed horsing around on the beach. I could have stood there and enjoyed the occasion a little longer, I guess, but, having taken this photo, I decided it was time to warm up in the car and head for home.
