The accidental finding

Dancing Shoes

..for Ginger Rogers, perhaps?

A toss up between a rain-dotted ox-eye daisy in the grounds of 'the castle' which is in fact a mansion converted to flats, or the vintage shop window, was won by the latter.

The jewellery may be paste rather than diamonds, and the shoes the work of a contemporary designer, but to me these items are redolent of a vanished era, one of

cigarette holders and cabin trunks;
dancing till dawn;
hot buttered toast,
and

illicit encounters with the Gardener's Boy.

Clearly my recent choice of reading material has filled my brain with silk, champagne, and foie gras. Long may the addle-pated state last!
