Polishing the brass

I spent the morning helping with some of the cleaning about the house. (I cleaned baseboards) and then spent my afternoon polishing the brass.  I had forgotten that chore.  When we lived in Prestwick we had a lot of brass including this same coal scuttle that had to be polished.  It all looks lovely but it is lots of work to maintain.

Even wearing gloves I managed to end up with my index finger being black and the brasso having turned my nail black.  I soaked my finger in bleach to get all the black gone and now it's time for lotion and lots of it!
