Home Alone
Ann's shot down to the chalet for a couple of days to prepare it for our next guests, so I'm left holding the dog; well not literally of course, but you know what I mean.
Was going to meet Emma for coffee, but she called off; previous lunch date apparently, humph! Anyway she's coming over later for a cup of tea :-)
I was sitting in the garden room reading Philip Larkin's Collected Poems when it started belting down with rain. Had a quick panic about washing, seat cushions etc. then noticed the blackbird. I haven't seen either of them for a little while and was wondering if they'd abandoned the nest, but the rain had obviously attracted the worms and they had attracted the male blackbird.
I watched him strutting around and then he went for the Buddha, an opportunity not to be missed by any keen blipper! Unfortunately I only had my HTC to hand, so that had to do. I've done a little editing to hide some of the short comings of the mobile phone camera, but I think it makes a half reasonable photo.
After going out for a drink with Emma I did my bit to support Team GB by watching GB beat Canada in the preliminary round. Oh, the sport? Ahem...Women's Beach Volleyball on Horse Guards Parade. It's a serious sport, honest...........
