housing tour

Today we went on a housing tour: visiting the permanent housing projects just outside of the city.

We saw the strangest neighbourhoods and projects. The project in the picture is called 'morne cabrit'. A project from the Haitian government: about 150 permanent houses being constructed by a Dominican contractor. There are no beneficiaries selected who will be living in the houses and there is no work or services in the vicinity.
To me it does not sound very promising...

We also visited Corail, the location/camp where all the people from the Petionville-camp were relocated to; Canaan, an enormous spontaneous informal settlement and Soranger and social housing project.
All of them are far away from the city, work opportunities and services.

In one word: strange.
