Weaver's windows...

...for the "glass" theme of Wide Angle Wednesday today!
This building is now an artist's studio, and before that it was a pub.
In its heyday, however, wool would have been spun on the ground floor by the women, the family would have lived on the middle floor, and the loom would have been on the top floor where all the windows are. There were so many windows on the top floor like this to give as much light as possible for the men to work with, and if possible they faced North to get truer light ( though this one bucks the trend,... ).
There would often be a door on the gable end of the top floor, with a hook and pulley to lower the rolls of woven cloth.
