Winners and Losers

Went to the Olympic football at St James Park today. There were two games back to back - Morrocco v Japan followed by Spain v Honduras.

The first game ended 1-0 to Japan, hense the irate Morroccan in my picture!! The Japanese fans in particular were awesome - great posters, fancy dress, drumming and singing throughout the whole match.

The second game ended 1-0 to Honduras which was a complete upset, however it made for a fantastic atmosphere. Early in the game the crowd was very pro-Spain but as the game went on, and the gutsy Hondurans held on to their 1-0 lead, the crowd began willing them to clear every ball. As the game ended fans charged up and down with Honduran flags and their players collapsed on the pitch elated and exhausted!!!! A true Olympic moment!!!
