The Boy's Club
It is so rare that I can ever get two dragons in the same frame, much less two such showy specimens. Both males, the ode on the right is a Slaty Skimmer and the handsome dude on the left is a Widow Skimmer. Both very common in our area and both pretty easy to photograph as they tend to perch in the same place after little hunting excursions. But I've never had two share perches so close to one another, so definitely blip-worthy.
It was definitely a macro kind of day - I spent several hours out along the lake and in a grassy meadow crouched down with macro lens in hand. Later in the day, I took the 28-300 lens out and shot a couple of mediocre landscapes. I'm not crazy about that lens and I'm not a good landscape photographer, but if you'd like to see the result, Click HERE
It was quite a day for bug porn too. And some kind of weird group thing involving three lady beetles. Don't ask. But if you'd like to have a peek at some bug porn, a very strange moth, a jaunty grasshopper and and an up-close view of a green dragon, Start HERE on Flickr - five photos.
Still no luck getting a shot of the red-bellied woodpeckers feeding kids, but it's coming... the youngsters are getting brave enough to do fly-bys of the deck when the suet is out and it's only a matter of time before they join mom and/or dad on the deck. I'll be ready.
Thanks for stopping by - much appreciated.
TTFN,
Debbi
