Font Funk
Recently I've been writing a lot of personal postcards. It's been a pleasant endeavor, except for one thing - I've forgotten how to write legibly. My penmanship is atrocious at best. This is especially disconcerting since I am an architect, whose training included years of practice in clearly hand printing notes on drafted designs. Precise lettering was an essential skill because there was no computer-aided design software in my early career. Now, with computers used for most of my writing needs, I find myself back to pre-school skills in forming the letters of the alphabet. Since even my own partner cannot decipher my handwriting, I thought I would create my own personal font guide as an aid to anyone who has the dubious honor of receiving a handwritten card from yours truly.
"There's life for you. Spend the best years of your life studying penmanship and rhetoric and syntax and Beowulf and George Eliot, and then somebody steals your pencil." ~ Dorothy Parker
