cultivate thankfulness

Today was a day bursting with adventure.
Firstly, I met with Nick, a friend from Tanzania, who shared with me his experience living in refugee camps. We digressed some about relative poverty and then ended our hour long get together.

The excitement began when I made a spontaneous decision to head to Leadville to camp out with M before we hiked Mt Sherman the next morning. Hilarious and memorable events always transpire when together. This theory held true when we decided to check out the local bar after setting up camp. Little did we know the arm wrestling competition was taking place that very evening. Before even finishing our Surley Temple's with double shot Vodka we were signed up. Then came a whirlwind of men flocking to us because apparently we were the "best looking" ladies at the Leadville bar. Pathetic attempts at pool, free drinks from kind gentleman, and then it was time for competition. I lost both times to some rather beastly women, and I felt no shame in my loss. M on the other hand made it to the semi finals, and as you can see from the photo her competitor meant business. Sadly we walked away both losers from the competition but I managed to get a phone number from a handsome mountain man, Ryan. Overall, it was an absolutely crazy night full of good company, laughter, and fun memories.
