Remembering

We visited Lincoln Castle at lunchtime to see the poppy display and the events to mark today as the centenary of the start of the Battle of the Somme. We expected to see a flypast of a Lancaster to pay tribute to the fallen, but shortly before 12 there was an announcement to say that a Spitfire would be doing the honours. The sky was rather grey making for little contrast of colour.

I was spoilt for choice so put some contenders in extras. The Spitfire behind the spires of the Cathedral, the poppies being viewed by a party of junior school pupils and a view the the Bomber Command Memorial.

We were in Lincoln this morning for our last session of invigilating. All of the exams have been done, hopefully the Y10 students will be better prepared for their mocks in November, having been given feedback from these papers.
