To Let

Glasshouse Street, back of Vicky Centre. I took my new glasses to see a beautifully restored new print of 'Poor Cow', Ken Loach's debut from 1967, at Broadway in the afternoon, having already taken the old one's to see Aidan Moffat in 'Where You're Meant To Be' on Monday night - an odd old week for cinema and no mistake. Monday had Mr. Moffat in attendance too, rounding things off with a few unaccompanied obscene updates of Scottish folk songs - a bit of a contrast to Terence Stamp having a stab at Donovan! 'Where You're Meant To Be' is a very good, warm-hearted film about Scottish Culture - made with some of the money that must have been sloshing around when Glasgow was the European City of Culture a couple of years ago. No doubt there'll be none of that going forward. And when I came out at quarter past ten the centre of Nottingham was quiet as a church with just the sounds of bar staff bringing in furniture and shutting up early - it didn't take a genius to guess the result of the England game...
