The Lighted Life

Let your boat of life be light, packed with only what you need, a homely home and simple pleasures, one or two friends worth the name, someone to love & someone to love you; a cat, a dog & a pipe or two, enough to eat and enough to wear, and a little more than enough to drink; for thirst is a dangerous thing. - Jerome

We had a wonderful day on the water and went to the far end of our boats reach. At the tip of Wendigo Arm sits a peaceful bay that always has placid waters and tranquil light and boats with many stories to tell. This houseboat has always fascinated me as it reminds me of a life that has been lived well. It is rich in character and its face has the lines of wisdom that only can come with the years. Its skeleton has slouched a bit but it remains afloat and steadfast in its mission. And, if it should ever tell its story, the voice of the path that led it here has far more to say than the voice of the place from where it began.

I wish this houseboat could speak.

Finding the stash of my departed father and brothers old print black and white images has set me off on a bit of a mono tangent. I am usually a fan of vibrant and bold colors but, please, bear with me while I sort this B&W thing out. And THANK YOU for the glowing comments on my blip of my daughter yesterday. I am happy that you were able to see a sliver of the enormous bliss she and her sister bring to me each and every day. And please have an incredible week.

If you have time please see it in large as you can see the wonderful texture that is evident to the eye in real life. And one can also see the 55 gallon drum creatively tied to the right rear corner to keep the boat afloat. Perhaps it is a bit like a cane?
