Blue Mountains Icons 11

This could almost be a "Glimpses of Blackheath" picture. Here we are standing atop the Blackheath plateau, just west of town, looking down into the Kanimbla Valley which is our Icon for today.

If you were to be on the land below and if you were to move to the right, not far out of shot, you would be at the spot where we saw the big mushroom cloud unloading precipitation a few days back. The Kanimbla is one of three valleys which surround Blackheath - the others being the Grose and the Megalong. The Grose is a large part of the Blue Mountains National Park heritage wilderness. A small area of the Kanimbla is as well but the part we see here is rich, small scale farmland, complete with paddock reservoirs.

It's awfully pretty country down there and not nearly as flat as it looks. It sort of acts as a buffer between the Blue Mountains National Park (to the east) and the Kanangra Boyd National Park beyond, to the west and south. There is so much to show you ... buuuut ... I've got plenty of blips to spare in the months ahead.
