Zürifäscht

Happy Friday. I took the train to work in the morning and walked along the lake from Stadelhofen to Mythenquai to watch all the preparation work going on for the big 3 day festivities. Good run at lunch time with RT, WJ and LC eventhough it was very warm already :)

Finished work at 5pm and met P. and the others at L'altro at 6pm for a plate of ravioli fatta in casa and a glas of Le Volte in the garden. We then strolled to Buerkliplatz at 730pm to board the boat which took us for a lake tour first and allowed us then to watch the firework still being on the lake with Zurich in the background.

Beautiful sunset, great company and a wow 30 minute fireworks. Public transportation was running all night. So at home early Saturday only.

"Züri Fäscht" – City Festival 2016

Anyone who misses Switzerland’s largest festival, the "Züri Fäscht", from July 1–3, 2016 will have to wait another three whole years before they have the chance again. During the first weekend in July, two million visitors take over the streets along the River Limmat and around the lake basin that are otherwise occupied by cars, trams and buses. A giant festival ground with music and food stands serving culinary delights from all over the world, attract people of all ages.

Spectacular sights are not just to be found in the inner city, but also in the skies above Zurich – thanks to their magnitude and beauty, the two musical fireworks displays on the Friday and Saturday evenings are among the absolute highlights of this mega-event.
