Crossing from Fifield to Riverlaw Terrace

Today I've needed less pain relief but still have that feeling I've been whacked in the face. Nothing untoward is happening so I'm healing well and that's the main thing.

We're into the coldest part of winter so far. The air is colder and any breeze makes it feel even more so. That's what I'm trying to work out and gauge with my jaw. I keep a scarf around my face and I'm thinking I'll need to do the same on Monday morning when I bike to work. Or at least that's the plan.

It feels like I've been laid up for a long time. On the up side my foot is feeling good and of course the self destructing tooth has gone. I'm making a pretty good job of cooking soups too. The fridge is full of pea and ham, and roasted cauliflower soup. They're the easiest while my gums and jaw heals.

Years ago I used to live by this foot bridge. Little did we ever dream what an earthquake would do to the bridge and surrounding land and houses. The bridge was fixed last year. It's markedly strengthened and re-anchored to the land. As I walked across it today I thought how in a few weeks time I'll be running across it again.

That and the mountains. I can't wait.
