Aperture on Life

Another English Summers Day

The sun had put it's hat on so a friend and I decided to go for a walk along the canal. A few fluffy clouds  in the sky but nothing to cause concern, we were prepared for a slight shower but there are trees to shelter under and didn't take a coat with us. How wrong can you get it?

The walk from Ripley to Pyford is stunning and not far to to a very nice pub for a lunchtime snack.  We took it gently, chatting to those we passed along the way and, as both had our cameras with us, the bounty of  photo opportunities along the way further slowed us down.

A few hundred yards before shelter and a meal, a few large but sporadic rain drops preceded an almighty clap of thunder. The sky turned blacker than black, and we were soaked to the skin in a matter of seconds. There is no shelter from rain like that. Rachael's camera, on which she mounted a new lens, ceased to function and I'm praying that it will be alright after it has dried out.

The only thing we could do was to turn back towards the car, laughing at ourselves with those that were better prepared than we.  Having both gone home to change we did meet up again for our promised lunch, but it wasn't in the Anchor at Pyrford!

Had to add the extras.  Hitch Hiker on a Heron, Wet Tshirt Winner and Wet Enough to Drown a Duck!
