Houseguest Dani gave me a lovely surprise last night. 2 vouchers for a night's stay (half board) at one of the DAV's Alpine hütte. She also gave me DAV information leaflets about some hiking/climbing tours in the German Alps.

Perfect. I'm having a week in Bavaria next month as part of my summer break, and climbing in the Alps was part of the plan. She may have had some insider knowledge. Rosi?

One of the leaflets is about climbing Zugspitze - Germany's highest peak at 2,962m (9,718 ft). Might be a little ambitious... On grounds of difficulty, not height (after the summit of Kilimanjaro at over 19,000 ft, not much will be "too high" for me).
