North or South

A bright day in Shetland today, warm enough for a tee shirt at one point. Really nice.

We took a 3 1/2 hour boat trip this morning round the island of Bressie and Noss to see the seals and bird colonies. It was lovely. Just a small boat with 9 or 10 guests on board. Our hosts were good, knowledgeable, friendly and fun. There were'nt many seals but the ones we saw were sweet and we saw a porpoise apparently.

I didn't know it was a big fish. I thought when the lady got so excited asking if we saw the porpoise, it was a name of a fancy trick that the seal did, like a dive or something. Anyway i know now and I saw one.

The birds were great too, like a massive bird hotel. The explanation of how which birds get the best nests was interesting too. How a bird with a feather in its mouth is showing off it has a nest. "Look at me everyone, I'm important, I have a nest".

After the boat trip and lunch we dropped dad off at the harbour (at the harbour, not IN the hsrbour) and we went off to the jewellry shop, it was a short drive but we managed to find it quite easily with a little detour along the way looking again at some fantastic scenery. We saw a couple of swans with babies on a lovely loch and found our way back to the hotel with no trouble. To be honest you can't really get lost you either go north or south!
