Shore Cottage
(over the Confluence of Strone Water and Abhainn Breacairigh)
13.9C starting with a few light showers. Dry by lunchtime with bright spells through the afternoon. Moderate WSW breeze first then WNW and Westerly later.
Grocery shopping over by mid morning. We left Maeve the Deerhound at home, as we have been doing the last few Sundays.
We went the ten miles or so South to Southend then followed the road round past Dunaverty beach to Carskey Bay where we had a walk with Maeve from one end of the beach to the other and back. The sea was calm and the tide was only just starting to go out. No paddling today, just one or two occasions when Maeve didn't get out of the way and got wet paws when a small wave broke and ran up the beach. I looked up the name of the burn that runs in to the far end of Carskey Bay by Shore Cottage on the OS map. There is a confluence of the Strone Water from Strone Glen and Abhainn Breacairigh from Gleann Breacairigh just behind the beach, the two then running together into the sea.
The tide was too far in for the seals to be out on the rocks today. But by Keil cemetery there was one seal to be seen out of the water. I imagine some others would be along once the tide had dropped a little.
On the way to Southend we had checked the end of the farm road egg stand we had purchased eggs from two weeks ago. It was empty. However, just down the road where there was a small space to park, there was a bigger stand with eggs and other things and of course an honesty jar. We stopped on the way home to see what there was and came away very happy. There were hens eggs (sometimes they have duck eggs too), Rhubarb, Spinach Beet, Rainbow Chard, brown paper bags of Rocket and of fresh mixed salad leaves, and two little Aloe Vera plants. We chose to buy a box of eggs, a bag of Salad (50p), and one of the plants.

Note: Thanks to everyone who liked yesterday's extra. I preferred it too, but the destroyer in the loch was unusual enough to merit the post ... and since I had walked all the way out there in the wind it was definitely being blipped !
