Henley Royal Regatta Day 3 - Quarter Finals

Today Tom's quad faced a tough German crew. It was the last race of the day, so they had a long wait until 7.30pm. The race was a real nail-biter streamed live on You Tube and BT sport.... but for me watched from the Steward's Enclosure with two of my new Henley friends, Eric and Annie. I almost felt sick with anxiety... their start wasn't great and they fell behind early on as the German's moved off from the start very fast rating 47 at one point. This crew had knocked the Leander quad out on Day 3 last year, so there was history here too. In the end the boys came good though, Tom at bow was steering and did a sterling job, they stayed calm, level-headed and mature as their opposition 'blew' - the pain on their faces evident.

We drank champagne afterwards. Then took the athletes home to bed ready for what will be their toughest race yet tomorrow at 7pm.
