In Which a Small Rabbit Returns to the Meadow

I have not wanted to talk about it here, but about a month ago, the bunnies all left our yard. We had been thick with bunnies in wintertime, but then springtime came, and apparently they had other important bunny business in other yards as spring turned into summer.

The last time I had a really good bunny sighting was May 16, when Binky Bunzini showed up in the meadow as I sat watching the hummingbirds. We think that she was looking for a place to nest. We also fear that her finding me there, unexpected, was the reason she left. So perhaps it's my fault she went away. Mea culpa!

But on this day, the rabbits returned. The day began with a rabbit sighting out in the front yard near the road. It was a rather large rabbit, and it was smart enough to run back into the woods when a car approached. And then around dusk, another smaller bunny showed up. I saw it in the side yard and pursued it - stealthily - around the side of the house.

And guess what it did then. It returned to the meadow! Hooray! In fact, it spent some major time there, hanging out, enjoying the greenery, looking like it had found a bunny paradise. Is it a member of the Bunzini tribe? Who knows, it just might be!

And here's a welcome home message for the bun: The eating is good here, rabbit, and you might be surprised to discover there's a big guy who runs the yard here who is a true SUCKER for rabbits, my hoppy little friend . . . If you play your cards right, you might just be glad you returned to the meadow. Welcome home!

I wanted the soundtrack song for this photo to include the word return, so here it is: Kansas, with Point of Know Return. This is a live remastered version of the original 6 members of the band from Canada Jam 1978. Enjoy!
