The tree
This is what we can see out of our bedroom window, and half of the front room window. I like a bit of green, but this is getting out of hand. As we rent this place through an agency, hands are somewhat tied when it comes to home improvement. So we kindly and politely request our agent contact our landlord and have the beast clipped back a little. Not cut down - we're not McDonalds - but let's say trimmed, so we can get a bit of light in. Pretty reasonable.
So a representative of said agency leaves a confused voicemail on my phone today - lucky for her I didn't answer - saying "it is the tenants' responsibility to cut the grass with the equipment provided". This 'equipment' is a stiff, rusty pair of hand-held shears that you can hardly open and close in one movement, let alone cut branches off a tree that reaches the third floor of a tenement building.
As our letting agency appeared content last year to allow water from the above flat to pretty much flow freely through our bathroom ceiling for a month, I think the tree need not worry about branch amputation, and any anti-deforestation campaigners out there can enjoy an easy, silent victory.
Thanks again letting agency, you are truly useless to mankind.
