Monday Monday
Jean, mbfiatw, arrived lunchtime - and after quick catch up and coffee sitting in the garden sunshine, we went, of course, to the Fox and Raven (haven) for a leisurely late lunch (nearly three hours in fact!) with much putting right of the world's wrongs as only we can do, after 35+ years of friendship and a bucket of wordily wisdom. Although the meal was fine, it was a bit sad to see the place almost completely empty - even on a Monday afternoon it used to be busy - but today almost every table was free. New management took over fairly recently, so time will tell, but I would be inordinately disappointed to lose this place as my 'go-to' vittles supplier when I am home. The beer, btw, was the Oxford Brewery - Brakespear bitter, so that can be today's entry for my summer '16 series "Real Ale in England". A fine drink, and at only 3.4% alc vol, a couple of them slipped down very comfortably as the afternoon wore on.
A trundle around B&Q afterwards and we both purchased garden stuff then back home for TV tennis, talk, and the tour de France before Jean set off home around 22.45.
(Thanks to Skeena for hosting Mono Monday, this week's theme is "Free")
