Counting my blessings

This is why Noah must have been African!  When it rains, it really rains! The deluge last week filled the pool with the neighbours lawn dressing, and I've only just sorted that out. They obviously haven't had time to sort out their storm water drainage, so today I had another flood. Fortunately this time it happened during the day so I was able to divert the water by digging a trench across the lawn.  What a mess!  
How awful it must be to live in an informal settlement in this weather ... well in any weather, but especially this weather!  Many of these settlements are built on vleis, so look much like this in the winter. Damp, cold, with leaks and without a fireplace or comforting electric blanket.  Om mane padme hung.
