Heron

I was lucky enough to catch sight of this heron on my way to work this morning.
I was surprised that he stayed still for long enough for me to take a few photos - normally they fly off just as I'm focussing.

A lovely start to the day - which then got better as I had a message from Briony to let me know that she, Katie and Louise have landed safely in Kenya after a horrendously long journey that included a six hour stopover in Cairo. But she's safely with my sister, looking forward to a well-earned holiday.

It's quiet at home now though....
