The fortress next door
Where I work has a lot of empty land around it, land that will eventually be rebuilt but for now are rough gravel covered parking lots for Wilsons Parking.
The starkness accentuates the tilt slab buildings. With a changing sky and dipping sun the end of the building to the west of us looked more like a prison than the premises for City Care.
It was -3 when I woke this morning (outside not inside). Too cold for my jaw so I cheated and took my car. I walked across the centre of town during lunch to buy my coffee for home.
I reckon that 45 minute walk is the longest I've had in town since before the sequence of earthquakes began nearly 6 years ago. It was interesting and weird at the same time.
