My life

Backblip

A few more of the wedding party left this morning so after seeing them off Kevin & I took his sister & her husband and my sister & her husband out for a day.
We drove to the south of the island visiting Prasonissi where the Agean and Mediterranean seas meet over a long beach separating the mainland from a small island, the sight is quite spectacular with the gently rolling sea on one side contrasting with crashing waves on the other, at certain times the seas actually cross and you can stand with one foot in each, but not today. Both sides play host to lovers of water sports, with surfers vieing for space. The sky is filled with colourful kites as people on the ground learn to control them before taking to the seas kitesurfing.
Driving up the east of the island the unbelievably turquoise Agean sea to our left
we drove through Apolakkia devastated by a recent fire, sad to see but fortunately no harm to houses or people.
We went onto the little monastery of Monolithos, a steep climb up rough stone steps to reach it but the views from the top make it well worth it.
Finally driving across the island back to the west coast and the gentler Mediterranean with sandier more sloping beaches, stopping on the way at Epta Piges (seven springs) to walk through the dark tunnel, disappointing that the once deep, dark lagoon has disappeared - not sure how but it is now shallow pools around shale banks.
Back to Pefkos and a quick trip to visit the site of Kevin's dream house - if only the lottery would come up...... If only we played it.......
Gorgeous views over the bay of Pefkos stretching down to the south - a lovely day out. Evening meal in Kelari yet another delicious meal - there are too many good restaraunts around Pefkos!
