Windermere and Bowness

I love Windermere. Out-of-season is best, so you don't get mashed along with a visiting Japanese crowd carrying Nikon cameras that cost more than year's salary...but whenever is still beautiful too. The top of Orrest Head is so pretty and on a clear day, you can have a clear 360° view as far as Morecambe and Yorkshire; one of Wainwright's favourite views.

We usually stop off at Vinegar Jones for the obligatory fish and chips (no fish for me thanks, I'm veggie...) but discovered it had been burned down in April. Hope they get back up and running soon.
