And there's more......

I went to check on the two new moorhen chicks on the pond at work this morning, hoping they'd survived since I discovered them on Monday. I only saw one but it was following one adult demanding food, so looked good.

I hadn't given up on the other one and went back at lunch time to check again. Yep, I found the two chicks again wobbling on the lily pads, but then I saw some more black blobs on the nest. Would you believe it - 5 more chicks!

They must have been hiding under their mum and older sibling, which I photographed this morning too. (See the extra shot.)

Again, it will be a waiting game to see how many of these tiny chicks will survive over the next few days. We do have herons which visit the pond regularly.
