Elaine's Turn...

Dear Diary,

This morning it is Elaine's turn to hang out on her little porch and read with her little dog Schotzie close by. We had a wonderful time in Portland yesterday despite the oppressive heat. The museum had a great exhibit on early women modernist painters in New York. It featured several amazing works by Georgia O'Keeffe who has always been my favorite American painter. I remember flying twice to Washington, DC to see her retrospective at the National Gallery of Art.

Lunch was great at one of my favorite Portland restaurants, DiMillo's, which is a ship moored in Portland Harbor. (Extra photo) We sat on the canopied deck and it was lovely. Their fish chowder is the best. We stopped at the Artist and Craftsman art supply store and I boldly bought a set of oil paints. Who knows, I might try my hand at painting the pond!

She is off early to paint in Tamworth, NH for the day and I will try to get some things ready for my trip beginning on Sunday and relax in the studio. A quiet day...

I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way - things I had no words for. - Georgia O'Keeffe
