171 . . . AGAIN

BUY ONE . . . GET ONE FREE . . . after this Blip on Tuesday, yet another station opened exactly 171 years ago today . . . Seamer Station ! As part of the York and North Midland Railway, it became an important junction station when a branch line was opened to Filey in 1846 and a second branch for the Forge Valley Line in 1882.
This image shows the island platform configuration, chosen to make it easier for passengers to change between the two routes, and the booking office which was incorporated into the Station Masters house on Station Road, to the right of this image.
 At one time this special place even boasted 3 signalboxes . . . another opportunity missed. Here  is a box picture I posted in 2012.
