An ordinary life....

Seventh Heaven...

Is G&T flavoured caramel popcorn :-)  It's all I had the energy to photograph today.

So, update on my boy.

Got home last night.  He liked the idea of potatoes but couldn't quite bring himself to eat them.  He was absolutely exhausted so an early night was called for.

David gave Karen a hand to get him to bed.  I bought him some Minions onesies as I thought that would keep his hands away from the gastrostomy tube during the night.  He looked quite fetching in it :-)

David noticed that one of the two stitches that's not meant to be removed for 24-48 hours had come out.   We phoned the hospital to ask advice and they said someone would phone us in the morning.

To my surprise he had a very peaceful night.  Slept right through just stirring a little at 1.30am and 5.30am when David went in to flush the tube with water and give him paracetamol.   He slept till after 10am.

Once up he said he wanted macaroni cheese but really struggled to eat any  as he was sore and full of wind.  I gave him half a bottle of the liquid feed (only 110ml) and sat with him a while holding hands and singing silly songs.  I had to stop making him laugh as he winced every time a giggle came to the surface.

After lunch he wanted to sit in peace and quiet and have a sleep but as he got settled, he was sick.  I think this was caused by the anaesthetic, the fact his tummy had something in it and the wind he was suffering with (the filled his stomach with air during the procedure).   There wasn't a peep out of him though and he was very patient with us all as he got changed and washed again.

The rest of the afternoon he's been quiet but fine.  He managed to eat some potatoes and chicken for dinner and so far has kept them down.

I think another early night is on the cards.  The District Nurse will come in tomorrow and remove the final stitch and I think that will reduce some of the pain.

It's been so easy giving him his painkillers down the tube.  Not a drop spilled and no fussing.  I really do think this gastrostomy is going to be game changing for him.

In other news, Paul from the tile supplier is dropping off all the  tile samples for the extension tomorrow afternoon.  Looking forward to seeing them.  And I think the builder is starting work on the frame of the garden room.  Exciting.

The roads round about have been busy with campers arriving for T in the Park and we are having to do all our shopping from the local Coop as Tesco has suspended deliveries in the area till Tuesday.

I've got plenty gin in stock though so all is well :-))
