He's looking at me!

I was all set to post something for Tiny Tuesday until I saw this male Downy Woodpecker on the new peanut feeder.

I wasn't sure just how close he would allow me to get to him so I took a few shots from the sliding glass door of the sun room first before venturing outside.  Then I decided to throw caution to the wind and try to get some closer shots.

I grabbed the tripod and moved outside and took a few more shots.  Then I moved closer.  Then closer still until I was no more than 10 feet away from the feeder.  I was quite surprised that he let me get this close. 

He did eventually stop pecking at the peanuts and kept his eyes on me until I got enough pictures and backed away.
