The Head Gardener's Pond ...

was his pride and joy.

Because of lack of maintenance, cleaning and weeding out, it basically became a big pool of filthy sludge. And this fact really upset me. Through a series of serendipitous events, I found a retired swimming pool installer (Paddy by name) and he has promised me he will have the pond in first class shape by 29 August.

Paddy installed a pool for Bono in his heyday (Paddy's not Bono's) and he had a few good stories to tell me today over lunch.
