Cake at the Seaside
This afternoon I travelled to Langstone for a wedding cake tasting session! The lady who is making our cake offers a variety of flavours so I was there to sample some of them and to discuss the design of the cake. We'll probably have a tier of fruit cake and one of sponge cake. The flavour of the sponge is yet to be decided but those I sampled included lemon, chocolate, raspberry and white chocolate, champagne and strawberry, and coconut and lime. Having come home with a bag full of cake and having tasted them some more (!) my favourites are the lemon, and the strawberry and champagne (I had planned to save the cake to eat while I watch the men's final at Wimbledon tomorrow but I didn't manage to be that restrained!).
It was lovely down at Langstone this afternoon. The sea was in and some kayackers up close to the shore. The Royal Oak pub was busy - the garden over looks the sea and the vista out across Chichester Harbour. This is one of the cottages in the street running up to the shore.
